COVID-19 Acts of Kindness challenge launch

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

#COVAKchallenge asks people to share the love by posting their acts of kindness on social media, then nominating others to do the same.

LONDON, 4 May 2020 What Can We Do?, the go-to hub for all the ways people can support the UK’s COVID-19 relief efforts from their sofa, is today launching its #COVAKchallenge (COVID-19 Acts of Kindness Challenge) on its website and social media, to share the love and kindness far and wide during these difficult times.

The challenge has three parts:

Step 1: Choose your challenge from What Can We Do?’s list of suggestions, or come up with your own.

Step 2: Take a photo/video of your act of kindness, or one you have received, and share it on social media with #COVAKchallenge.

Step 3: Nominate three or more friends to do the same, and keep the chain of kindness going as far as possible and share the love.

“Acts of kindness make people feel good, and that is what we want to achieve in these challenging times,” says Florence Waller-Carr, Co-Founder What Can We Do?. “Everyone around the world has been impacted by this crisis in some way, and we want to connect people through kindness. An act of kindness can be a very personal thing, and we want to challenge people to think about what they can do to make someone’s day and spread the love as far as possible!”

The What Can We Do? website, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts are dedicated to sharing the latest initiatives, petitions, emergency funds to support people who want to help the UK’s COVID-19 relief efforts.
