We know that it can feel overwhelming when there’s so much coronavirus information flying around, so we’ve collated our top five coronavirus tips and things for you to get involved in to help and give coronavirus support to others. Whether you do one or all five, you can make a difference!
1. 2.6 Challenge
The impact of coronavirus on charities has been huge, and the cancellation of thousands of fundraising events has resulted in the loss of billions for charities. The 2.6 Challenge is suitable for anyone and everyone; you choose your own challenge, your own fundraising target, and which charity you’d like to support, and then get going. It really is that simple! Whether you want to run for 2.6 miles, read 26 books, or game for 26 hours, you can get involved! Check out the 2.6 Challenge website for more information and challenge ideas.
2. Keeping Busy
Secret Cinema is hosting a weekly event called Secret Sofa. Sign-up and from the comfort of your living room/bed join thousands of other households every Friday to watch some of the greatest films of all time. They provide costume, music, food, and activity suggestions to get you in the mood, so invite your friends, lounge, and enjoy!
3. Sign a petition
Only have two minutes to spare, but want to do something positive? Sign this petition asking for the government to give non-British citizens who are NHS workers automatic citizenship. Look for more petitions on our Petitions page and read about the five reasons why you should sign a petition during coronavirus.
4. Volunteering actions
Know someone who’s self-isolating, older, or vulnerable and needs their shopping doing? If you’re able to safely do so, volunteer to do their shopping for them and encourage them to get a Volunteer Shopping Card to make life a little easier. It means your not exchanging cash and you’re able to help whilst minimising the risk to you both.
5. Share our site with your friends
Many other people you know will also be wondering how to help to make a difference and give coronavirus support, but don’t know where to start or where they can have the biggest impact. Let them know about What Can We Do to provide them with some inspiration. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and our website.
Have some more time to give? Check out our website and social media channels for more inspiration.
Come back again next week for more ideas on how you can get involved. If you know of any initiatives in your community that you think we should promote get in touch to tell us about them.
